The Monthly Magazine iPad and iPhone App Released

On the eve of the Australian iPad launch, we are excited to announce that The Monthly Magazine iPad and iPhone app is now available.  The app is free on the App Store and comes with the March 2010 edition.  Other issues are available for individual purchase inside the app for $4.95 (AUD) – close to half the price of the printed edition. Great reviews have already started popping up like this one from MacTalk user decryption:

It’s pretty much what I want from a digital magazine. It’s not a PDF. It resembles the the print edition and the iBook layout. It’s focus is content, not eye candy. It’s fantastic.

We aimed to strike the balance between maintaining the integrity of the printed work whilst embracing all that an iPad experience has to offer. That is really the key here, people don’t want a scanned copy of the printed work (because it was never intended to be read that way) nor do they just want a website – somewhere inbetween is the sweet spot. First and foremost with The Monthly we sought to honour the thought provoking essays and reviews that it is famous for.

Thanks William! It isn't possible to delete an issue at this stage but we may add this later on. Each issue is less than 1mb so it isn't a huge amount of space to take up on your iPad.

How do I delete a copy of the magazine once I've read it? Apart from not knowing that I think it's a great app!
